Let’s get you started

You’ll need the joining link from your invitation email, which comes from me at mycatapps@gmail.com, and the Google Play account you gave me.

Join in four steps

  1. Check your Google Play email

    Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture. Make sure it shows the email you gave me. Use that same account when you open the invitation link.

  2. Open your invitation link

    Tap Become a tester on the Google Play page.

  3. Install OurCat

    Follow the Google Play installation link shown after you join. Availability can take a little while to update.

  4. Create an OurCat account

    Open the app, sign up with an email and password, and confirm your email. This is separate from the Google account used to install it.

Start with one small thing

Add your cat, or a made-up one, record food or water, then find the entry on Today and in History. That’s enough to get started.

Testing with your partner or a cat-sitter? Once you’re both in, invite them from the app and check you can both see the same entry.

Something not working?

Google Play says the app isn’t available to me

Check the Google account in both your browser and the Play Store. It must match the one in your invitation. Also check your Play country is eligible. If those match, reply to the invitation with the message you see.

I joined, but can’t install yet

Google Play can take several hours to make a test or update available. Try your invitation link again later. If it still doesn’t work, reply to the invitation email.

I can’t find the app in search

Use the joining link in your invitation, then the installation link Google Play shows. Private tests don’t appear in ordinary search.

I can’t find my confirmation email

Look for the confirmation email sent after you signed up. Check your spam folder and the address shown in the app. If it hasn’t arrived, choose Send another link when the countdown ends, or correct the address if it is wrong. After opening the link, return to OurCat; tap Check again if you’re still waiting. If that doesn’t help, email mycatapps@gmail.com. Never send your password or confirmation link.

How do I stop taking part?

You can leave at any time. Open the joining link and leave the Google Play test. Email me if you’d like test messages to stop. Leaving the test or uninstalling doesn’t delete your OurCat account; request account deletion separately.
